How do we mitigate currently emitted carbon?

A global fleet of fossil fueled ships moves 85% of global goods. This is unlikely to change overnight, so the industry needs mitigation solutions during what is expected to be a lengthy transition. Thus the focus of our industry partners is on reducing the carbon footprint of the ships during operation.

To accomplish this, one has to look at opportunities across the entire spectrum of shipping operations. This has lead our Carbon Mitigation team to think of a variety of questions:

• What fuels can current ships run on?

• What is the infrastructure required to provide those fuels?

• As they are being used, can we reduce the carbon emitted by whatever fuels are being used?
